On April 30, 2011, volunteers broke ground on Good Food Gardens during Comcast Cares Day events in Philadelphia, Boston, Houston, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Chicago and Portland. Alton Brown, Bobby Flay and Sunny Anderson, along with many others, pitched in to plant gardens and talked with children about the role of fresh foods and good nutrition.

Scripps Networks Interactive works with Rebuilding Together to launch its 193rd affiliate, located in our hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. Scripps provides the initial $25,000 in funding and hosts a fundraising reception.

Employee volunteers at Project Angel Food serve men, women and children in the Los Angeles area affected by many life-threatening illnesses.
In October 2011, Scripps Networks Interactive held the first Diversity Summit at our headquarters, in partnership with the Urban League and Knoxville Chamber. A key message to those in attendance was the importance of collaboration among business, political and community leaders and educators, if the region is to successfully compete in a global marketplace. The Diversity Summit was an important step toward a shared goal of enhancing marketplace diversity through a shared vision of the future.
